Additional Information
From Dayton, Ohio, Greans is a well traveled crew of emcees, who have been paying their dues in the underground scene. The Greans crew is comprised of five young, men who have represented the home of Funk and Soul since the hey days of hip hop, and who are trying to keep their art sacred.

Greans members, DJ Pioneer, Oposit, Brotha Def, King Solomon, and Cold Showda, each musicians in their own right, orginally banded under the title Universal Dialect in 1993. Since then, the collective has earned a reputation as one of the most respected and gripping acts in all of Ohio and has played everything from tours in the Midwest to major venues with the renown Biggie Smallz, Hieroglyphics, Mos Def, Common and Grand Master Flash, in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Greans first gained national recognition in '98 when they charted major hip hop stations with their single, Lady Animosity.Prehistoric Sounds featuring Wanna Battle and King Solomon. Files from the Dialect, and Grean Light District, and their performances continue to make the unaware boldly ask, "Who are these cats out of Dayton making this noise?"

Greans relocated to San Francisco in '99 determined to launch the vision that had formed in Dayton, and has since forsaken no part of their genesis. Greans gives recognition to the artists and associates who have shared in their success: Mood, Hi Tek, Rawkus Records, Talib Kweli, Lonecatalysts, Five Deez, Crunch Ex, and all the WannaBattle collaborators. Their name, Greans, is emblematic of their work. Like the "greens" of soul food, it sticks to your ribs and helps you grow, helps you stay the course.
